In July, Kai and I headed to Ontario for a month with family and friends before our department to Germany.
After a week in London, Kai and I headed to Toronto and met up with Neill on Centre Island. With Kai safely installed at Sue and Jek’s, I met Julia in Montreal for a mommies-only vacation!
Also in this gallery are some shots from my research visit to Toronto in May. I had an amazing time walking around Toronto and exploring archives and libraries for information pertaining to the woman who I want to write about. For me, the most exciting part was holding a coroner’s inquest book from 1860. In it, I found an index which showed there was record of an inquest held regarding the death of William Alexander, Jessie Alexander’s father. The sad part, however, was the actual record no longer exists.
