Edmonton Winter Fun

Winter has proved to be a challenge for me here in Edmonton. Several reasons: 1) I have had to seriously fight depression thanks to the darkness, 2) when it is below -20 degrees (this happens often here), you are stuck inside, and 3) winter lasts for six months here in Edmonton. It is a rough slog, anyway you look at it.

However, this year, I’ve decided to give up my membership in the “Enemies of Winter” club. The weather has been kind to us (not too cold). I have been working really hard at fighting the darkness blues with vitamins and working out. And we were able to buy a ski pulk (sled) for Kai which means that we are back in the adventure business. My Canadian heart starts pumping with joy (and exertion!) when I strap on the skis and we head down a snowy, wooded trail. Kai just sits happily in his sled, bundled up with blankets and a hot water bottle, and he dozes off as we ski. Yesterday, when he woke up, he serenaded us with a song of his own creation. Now that’s happiness!

Below are some photos and videos of our latest wintry adventures.
